The Yule Ball is back! Dust off your dress robes and prepare for an enchanted evening of well-mannered frivolity at the 2022 Yule Ball!
THE BALL
We will be gathering on Saturday, December 10th, at the Tiffany Center’s Emerald Ballroom for the 2022 Yule Ball. This historic ballroom features hardwood floors, a large stage and a soaring ceiling with plenty of room for a charmed candle or two. The main floor is fully accessible, and there is plentiful fixed theater seating along the edges of the room.
We’ll need all that room, because the Yule Ball is first, and foremost, a dance! DJ Switch is returning to get you dancing. The magical cocktails will be flowing. There will be a photo booth to memorialize your night of magic, and the Yule Ball raffle will offer a variety of prizes to appeal to any wizarding fan!
Wizarding attire and formalwear are strongly encouraged, and muggle street clothes may be subject to transfiguration.
This event will be 21+, with no underage wizards allowed.
VERY MAGICAL PERSON TICKET
Sadly, we are not able to host a Champion’s Feast in 2022. The Emerald Ballroom no longer has a kitchen, and we were unable to find a caterer who could provide a feast for what we felt was a reasonable cost.
BUT, we know that some of our guests want a little something extra special. For those people, we are offering the Very Magical Person ticket! This ticket includes many of the perks of the Champion’s Feast: a table seat, early entrance to the Ball, a selection of savory Trolley Treats conjured up by the magical folks from Hungry Heart Bakery (vegetarian options available), and a collection of magical swag.
Got your own Slug Club? A limited number of whole tables will be available! The tables are set up to seat six, but you can add up to two more seats if you’re bringing your entire Quidditch team. If you purchase a table, you will have the opportunity to name it! (Some wizarding locations may already be in use.)
ANYTHING OFF THE TROLLEY, DEARS?
Stargazer’s Gourmet will be bringing their magical sweets and treats to the Yule Ball! Chocolate frogs, every-flavor beans, chocolate pretzel wands, and a rainbow assortment of themed fudge! Get something to compliment your butterbeer or unicorn blood cocktail, or stock up for holiday gifts for your loved ones!
THE VIRTUAL TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT
New this year is the Virtual TriWizard Tournament! In the weeks leading up to the Ball, all ticket holders will receive a list of challenges to complete and a form on which to submit them. You will be tasked to perform feats of wizardry, to create magical items, and to explore the magic in the world around us. This at-home event will challenge you determination, creativity, and wizarding skills. At the Ball, the winner will be announced and awarded an awesome prize!
COVID PROTOCOLS
In order to protect our guests, their loved ones, and our communities, we are requiring all guests entering the Yule Ball to show proof of vaccination OR a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the Ball. We encourage everyone to be masked when not eating or drinking, but we are not requiring it.
DOING SOME GOOD IN THE WORLD
PDXpelliarmus is a group of wizard activists, and we are hosting the 2022 Yule Ball to raise funds and awareness for Q Center! Q Center is Portland’s LGBTQ2SIA+ community center. They provide safe spaces, community building, and empowerment for queer communities throughout the PNW. Programs include social groups, mental health and addiction support, self defense classes, and much more. Their facility includes a variety of event and meeting spaces, as well as a library filled with LGBTQ2SIA+ books and graphic novels.
Proceeds from ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, direct donations, and, new this year, bar sales, will be donated to Q Center. Come enjoy an evening of well-mannered frivolity, and help an amazing local org continue to bring magic into the lives of our queer communities! Because dragons are cool, but transphobia is not.
